Five people have been arrested following a containment operation on the N3 in Blanchardstown this morning.

Gardaí say a patrol unit saw a car driving dangerously at around 4am.

During the containment operation, the car collided with a marked garda car.

The car stopped after it hit an edge railing on the N3.

The five males, aged between in their teens and 20s, fled but were arrested on the side of the road.

No one was injured in the incident.

Gardaí say the car was taken a short time earlier during a burglary in the Blanchardstown area.

Three of the males have since been released without charge and a file has been sent to the DPP.

The other two males remain in custody.
