Ireland is ranked 10th best out of 180 countries when it comes to perceived levels of public sector corruption, according to a new report from Transparency International.

The ranking is the same as Ireland secured last year.

The data is contained in Transparency International's 2024 Corruption Perceptions Index.

Denmark, Finland and Singapore were given the top three places.

The countries at the bottom of the index were Venezuela, Somalia and South Sudan.

The organisation said its latest report shows that "corruption is a dangerous problem in every part of the world, but change for the better is happening in many countries".

It added: "Research also reveals that corruption is a major threat to climate action as it hinders progress in reducing emissions and adapting to the unavoidable effects of global heating."
