Three Irish restaurants have been added to the latest UK and Ireland edition of the Michelin Guide.

The restaurants are Ballyfin Demense in Co Laois, The Morrison Room in Co Kildare and Lignum in Co Galway.

The Michelin guide, published online and updates every month, is a curated selection of what Michelin deems as some of the best restaurants across the UK and Ireland.

Opened in 2011, Ballyfin Demesne is situated at the foot of the Slieve Bloom Mountains in Co Laois.

The restaurant is under the stewardship of Executive Chef, Ricard Picard-Edwards, who is renowned for his use of seasonal Irish produce.

Commenting on the award, Mr Picard-Edwards said: "This is a wonderful accolade to receive and I'm very proud of our hard work at Ballyfin and the team’s dedication".

The Morrison Room near Maynooth in Co Kildare was also awarded a star in the latest edition.

The statement from Michelin said the restaurant impressed the judges "not just with its first-rate produce but with the inventiveness of Adam Nevin’s cooking"

General Manager Martin Mangan of the Kildare restaurant expressed his pride in the team's Michelin star achievement:

"I’m absolutely delighted for our Head Chef Adam Nevin and his team. This recognition is a testament to his exceptional skill and dedication to creating extraordinary dishes," Mr Mangan said.

"A Michelin star from the esteemed inspectors confirms that we’re delivering on our promise to provide guests with a dining experience they won’t soon forget."

In Co Galway, Lignum in the rural east of the county was also awarded a Michelin star.

The guide credited the restaurant’s chef Danny Africano for "using wood-fired flavours to let his produce really shine".

Additionally a Michellin sommelier was given to Zsolt Lukács who is the co-owner and sommelier of daróg in Galway.

This statement said the "wine bar and bistro is a warm, welcoming place largely thanks to Zsolt himself".
