Police in Northern Ireland have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in his 30s in Strabane, Co Tyrone.

Stephen Homes, 31, died in hospital this morning from injuries he sustained in a serious assault in the early hours of last Monday.

The incident happened in the Beechmount Village area in the early hours of the morning

The incident happened in the Beechmount Village area of Strabane at around 3.15am.

Mr Holmes, who was from the Strabane area, had been in a critical condition since.

The PSNI has said that charges concerning a 31-year-old man who appeared before Strabane Magistrates' Court on Thursday in connection with the investigation will now be reviewed.
