Gardaí in Cork have ruled out foul play in the death of a man whose body was found in his home following a fire on Friday evening.

It follows the results of a post-mortem examination carried out on the body of 62-year-old Michael O'Sullivan.

Investigating gardaí say they are treating the case as one of sudden death.

Four units of Cork City Fire Brigade attended the property at 6.50pm on Friday and brought the fire under control.

The fire was contained within one room at the flat.

A second person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
