Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald has written to the Taoiseach urging him to immediately reconvene the Dáil to address the crisis facing the country in the aftermath of Storm Éowyn.
Ms McDonald said many people are going through a very tough time with serious disruption to their lives.
She added that hundreds of thousands are without electricity and water and face the uncertainty of more days without supply.
The Dáil was adjourned on 23 January after the new Government was formed. It is due to reconvene on 5 February.
TDs must now be given the opportunity to raise these issues with the Government in the Dáil, she said.
Aontú and the Social Democrats have also called for the Dáil to be recalled to discuss the devastation caused by the storm and to outline plans to restore power and water to people without supply.
Social Democrats deputy leader Cian O'Callaghan said it beggars belief that in the midst of this crisis there are no plans for the Dáil to sit.
Independent Ireland leader Michael Collins also called for the immediate reconvening of the Dáil to address the ongoing crisis caused by Storm Éowyn.
"While half the country grapples with the devastating effects of Storm Éowyn, the government has chosen to take an extended holiday. This inaction is making a mockery of the new administration and leaving our citizens to fend for themselves," he said.
IFA President Francie Gorman said there is a need to assess the country's infrastructure in the aftermath of the storm.
"This review should involve all stakeholders to see what steps can be taken to minimise disruption when we encounter similar events in the future," Mr Gorman concluded.
