States of Mind: Donald Trump's clock 'already ticking'

Usually, America and the world must wait until a US President's State of the Union address to hear about the new administration’s priorities and planned policies.

However, Donald Trump was never one to keep traditions, was he?

Hours after he was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, he made swift and sweeping changes to government by using the fastest tool he had at his disposal, the executive order.

In 2024, Mr Trump promised and in 2025, he delivered.

Much of what was announced was expected especially when it concerns issues like immigration, the pardoning of those involved in 6 January, government reform and withdrawing from major international agreements.

In the latest and final episode of this series of 'States of Mind’, RTÉ's Jackie Fox and Sean Whelan dig deeper into what Trump 2.0 means with Republican strategist Michael Ricci and former speechwriter for Barack Obama Terry Szuplat.
