The Israeli government is set to ratify a deal this afternoon which would bring about a ceasefire in Gaza from this Sunday.
In Israel, the deal has almost always been framed as a hostage deal. It's what the government and the Israeli media have called it, and it’s therefore what most Israelis call it.
As a result, few people in Israel view the deal as a way to end the war in Gaza.
What feels like a small difference in wording, actually reveals a lot about the parallel realities in Israel and Gaza.
