A 22-year-old man has been denied bail and remanded in custody charged with assault causing harm.
Cian Leavy, from Caragh near Naas, Co Kildare, is charged with assaulting 24-year-old Dawn Hamill at around midnight at St Conleth's car park in Newbridge, Co Kildare, in the early hours of Wednesday 4 December.
Ms Hamill was found unresponsive that morning at around 8.15am.
Detective Garda Patrick Robbins told Naas District Court that Mr Leavy had been arrested on Friday 6 December, but was later released to hospital.
The court heard that yesterday, after Mr Leavy was released from hospital, he presented himself to Kildare Garda Station by appointment at 7pm, where he made a "cautioned voluntary statement".
Detective Garda Robbins said that at 10.30pm last night Mr Leavy was charged with assault causing harm under Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997.
The court heard that Mr Leavy made no reply after being cautioned.
Detective Garda Robbins objected to bail.
Judge Desmond Zaidan denied Mr Leavy bail and remanded him in custody to Cloverhill Prison.
Solicitor for Mr Leavy, Tim Kennelly, requested that his client be psychiatrically assessed in custody, that he be given access to all required medical attention, including access to current medical treatments, and that he be granted free legal aid.
Judge Zaidan granted these requests.
Mr Leavy will appear in court again in Naas District Court via video link from Cloverhill Prison on 19 December.
The court heard that Ms Hamill remains on a life support machine in hospital.
Judge Zaidan said: "Ten days on she is still on life support and the full extent of her injuries remain undiagnosed because of the extensive swelling of her face, her brain and her body."
