A teenage boy has been referred to a Garda Juvenile Liaison Officer, after being detained in connection with an alleged assault on another youth in Galway this week.
The boy was arrested following an incident at Millars Lane in Knocknacarra, last Thursday night.
Gardaí were called to the scene, shortly before 11pm on Halloween, following reports that a teenager had been injured.
A knife was recovered at the location where the alleged assault took place.
The victim was taken to hospital and was subsequently discharged.
The youth who was detained was released from custody yesterday, and referred to the Garda Youth Diversion Programme.
Detectives are also investigating another incident which took place at Millers Lane hours earlier, when a teenage girl sustained serious eye injuries from a firework.
She was taken to University Hospital Galway for treatment, at around 7.45pm on Thursday.
Gardaí have appealed to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. They are also keen to review any mobile phone footage that may have been filmed at the scene.
