Man and woman questioned over death of Stephen Ring in Wexford

Gardaí are continuing to question two people in connection with the death of a 27-year-old man in Co Wexford.

The body of Stephen Ring was found in the water at Carrigfoyle Lake, a popular recreational area near Wexford town.

The area at the lake where Mr Ring's body was found yesterday afternoon remains sealed off.

A man in his 40s and a woman in her 30s were arrested yesterday.

They are being detained at a garda station under Section four of the Criminal Justice Act.

Mr Ring's body was taken to hospital in Co Waterford and a post-mortem examination has been carried out.

Mr Ring was reported missing on 15 October.

The area where his body was discovered is some distance away from where he was last seen in Wexford town in the early hours of 15 October.

A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed to lead the investigation and an incident room has been established at Wexford Garda Station.

A Garda Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to support the family of the deceased man.

Gardaí said investigations are ongoing.
