Fianna Fáil has said "there is nothing unexpected" that it has printed a large number of General Election posters emblazoned with an apparent election slogan 'Moving Forward Together'.
Pictures obtained by RTÉ News revealed that Fianna Fáil has printed posters with party leader Micheál Martin on it surrounded by the slogan.
The posters were pictured at Park West Enterprise Centre in Dublin.
The posters have further increased speculation that a snap general election may be imminent, despite Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin's repeated view that the Government should last its full five-year term.
However, in a statement to RTÉ News, a spokesperson for the party said: "there is nothing unexpected" in the existence of the posters, arguing that planning is "standard practice".
"There is nothing unexpected in this.
"It has been standard practice for many decades for all political parties to be well advanced with all aspects of their preparations six months out from an election.
"Fianna Fail is no different. It is widely known and clear that all parties are already well into their preparations for the next general election," the spokesperson said.
Speculation has intensified in Leinster House in recent weeks that a snap general election may be called in the near future, with a number of dates in November suggested.
However, while opposition parties have unanimously said they expect a general election to be called in the coming weeks on the back of last week's budget, the Taoiseach, Tánaiste and Government ministers have all indicated that they would like the Government to go full term.
