The European Parliament has adopted a resolution calling on European Union member states to lift restrictions that currently prevent Ukraine from using Western weapons on legitimate military targets in Russia.
MEPs in Strasbourg voted in favour of the resolution.
In total, 425 voted in favour, 131 against and 63 abstentions.
The text of the resolution states that "without lifting current restrictions, Ukraine cannot fully exercise its right to self-defence and remains exposed to attacks on its population and infrastructure".
It also reiterates a call for member states to fulfil a March 2023 commitment to deliver one million rounds of ammunition to Ukraine and to accelerate the delivery of weapons, air defence systems and ammunition, including TAURUS missiles.
In addition, MEPs are calling on EU countries to maintain sanctions against Russia and any non-EU countries supplying it with military aid.
All four Fianna Fáil MEPs voted in favour of the resolution, as did Regina Doherty and Seán Kelly from Fine Gael.
Labour's Aodhán Ó Ríordáin also voted in favour, while Sinn Féin MEPs, Lynn Boylan and Kathleen Funchion, abstained.
Independent MEPs Luke Ming Flanagan and Michael McNamara also abstained in the vote.
