SIPTU members employed in the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) have suspended banner and leaflet drop actions after management agreed to a meeting next week to discuss their outstanding issues.
In July, SIPTU launched its 'Our Union, Our Team' campaign calling on the FAI to engage with its workforce as a collective through their chosen trade union.
The campaign included banners and leaflet distribution before matches.
SIPTU has said its members at the FAI have endured pay cuts and freezes which have left them well behind in terms of pay compared to workers carrying out similar roles for other organisations.
The union has called on the FAI to engage with the Workplace Relations Commission and Labour Court on workers’ collective demands.
It has also called for a worker director to be appointed to the FAI Board.
"Following the distribution of ‘Our Union, Our Team’ campaign leaflets at several recent League of Ireland and FAI Cup games, it has been agreed that SIPTU shop stewards representing staff in the FAI will meet with management on 11 September," said FAI Football Development Officer and SIPTU Shop Steward, Paul Keogh.
"The ‘Our Union, Our Team’ calls on FAI management to engage with staff as a collective when negotiating wages and their conditions of employment. It also calls upon the FAI to respect the State’s industrial relations bodies and engage with the Workplace Relations Commission and Labour Court on the workers’ collective demands."
"We hope to make progress on these issues and others of concern for SIPTU members employed by the FAI at the upcoming meeting," Mr Keogh said.
The FAI said it would not be commenting on the matter.
