A woman in her 60s has been arrested as part of an investigation into a protest at the home of Taoiseach Simon Harris in May.

A group of around a dozen masked individuals held banners with anti-immigrant slogans outside the house as his wife was preparing their two young children for bed on 2 May.

Images were subsequently circulated on social media.

A woman in her 50s was arrested last week in connection with the same protest.

Gardaí said the second woman was arrested this afternoon.

In a statement, they said it has arrested "a further individual for alleged offences contrary to the Non-Fatal Offences against the Person Act, as part of ongoing investigations into the alleged harassment of an elected representative on 2nd May 2024".

The woman is currently detained at a Garda Station in Co Wicklow under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
