Four people have appeared in court charged in connection with looting carried out during the rioting in Dublin last November.

The three men and a woman are accused of stealing from Footlocker on O'Connell Street.

51-year-old William Cawley, of no fixed abode, 38-year-old Natasha Rice, also of no fixed abode, 19-year-old Josh Tidy, of Pim Street in Dublin, and 44-year-old Neil Mulvaney, of St Stephen’s Green Hostel in Dublin, were brought before a sitting of Dublin District Court.

They are all charged with entering Footlocker as a trespasser on 23 November 2023 and committing theft.

Four gardaí gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution, and each said the accused made no reply to the charge when it was put to them at various Dublin garda stations this afternoon.

All four accused were granted bail on a number of conditions, including that they sign on three times a week at a garda station, stay out of O'Connell Street and Dublin 1 and either reside at the address on the charge sheet, or notify gardaí of where they are living and any change of address.

Ms Rice and Mr Cawley have been permitted to enter the Dublin 1 area but only on Mondays between 9am and 12pm to collect their social welfare.

Judge Monica Leech remanded all four on bail to appear again at the Dublin District Court in October.
