After he was cautioned by Sgt Doyle, Gda Mangan told the court that Mr Pender replied "not guilty" to 12 of the charges.

Gda Mangan told the court that gardaí had stopped Mr Pender, who was driving a Peugeot car, on Friday evening.

He was arrested and taken to Finglas Garda Station after gardaí found two kilograms of suspected cocaine in the car.

The court heard that over €9,000 was also found in the car.

Gda Mangan told the court that gardaí carried out a number of other searches, including at Mr Pender's address, where the court heard that over €17,900 was found, and at an address given at Seskin View in Tallaght where the court was told gardaí found over €26,000.

Gda Mangan said gardaí also recovered 16 blocks of cash amounting to over €1,096,000 in a Mercedes van.

The court also heard that when gardaí searched a property in Woodfield, Ballymacarney, The Ward in Co Meath they found drugs with an estimated value of over €9.6m.

Gda Mangan said gardaí recovered an estimated €1.46m worth of cannabis, €4.48m of cocaine, €1.8m of MDMA, €120,000 of LSD and €1.74m of Ketamine.

The court heard that tests carried by Forensic Science Ireland on samples of the suspected cocaine and cannabis had come back positive for those drugs, and that tests have not yet been carried out on samples of the other drugs.

Gda Mangan also told the court that a full garda uniform was found in a barrel at the premises in The Ward in Co Meath, and it is alleged that the uniform had been stolen.

Mr Justice David McHugh denied Mr Pender's application for bail and deferred his application for free legal aid.

Mr Pender, who the court heard also resides at an address at Seskin View in Tallaght, was remanded in custody to appear in Cloverhill District Court via video link on Friday.
