Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to persist in the west and northwest tonight, as a Status Orange warning for four counties which was in place today has been lifted.
Met Éireann has said the showers and thunderstorms will gradually ease, becoming less extensive and intense.
A Status Orange thunderstorm warning was in place between 8am this morning and 9pm for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.
Met Éireann said elsewhere will stay dry for most of tonight, however, further scattered showers are expected to develop towards dawn.
Some mist and fog will also develop in light winds, with lowest temperatures of 10 to 13C.
Tomorrow will see a cloudy and misty start with showers turning heavy in the east, south and midlands in the afternoon and evening.
Thunderstorms could also develop and hail is possible.
Meanwhile, a Status Yellow thunderstorm warning that was in place for Cavan, Donegal, Connacht, and Longford has also lifted.
Heavy downpours with thunderstorms and hail were forecast between 2pm this afternoon and 9pm.
The Road Safety Authority urged caution on the roads during this evening's weather event.
The RSA said motorists should slow down and allow a greater braking distance between themselves and the vehicle in front in wet weather conditions.
The authority said motorists should avoid flooded roads and should choose another route.
The RSA also urged motorcyclists, pedestrians and cyclists to make sure they are visible to other road users during poor driving conditions.
Elsewhere, the UK Met Office has issued a Yellow thunderstorm warning for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry for tomorrow.
It will be in place from 8am tomorrow morning until 9pm.
