Two men have died following separate road crashes in Cork and Kerry within 12 hours of each other.

A man in his 20s died after the car he was driving was involved in a collision with an articulated lorry in Co Cork early this morning.

It happened on the N25 in Ballyedekin near Midleton at around 7.25am, and nobody else was injured in the incident.

Another man in his 20s, who was the passenger in a car involved in a collision with another car on the N69 in Listowel yesterday evening, died in hospital this afternoon.

Three other people were taken to hospital for treatment following the crash, however their injuries are not life threatening.

The N69 Listowel to Tralee road has since reopened to traffic after a garda examination.

Gardaí have urged witnesses to both incidents, and anyone who may have been travelling on either road at the time, to contact them.

They have urged anyone who may have dashcam footage to make it available to them.

The deaths bring to 63 the number of people killed on Irish roads so far this year. This compares to 48 for the same period in 2023.
