A man has been arrested in connection with an incident in which a woman in her 20s was stabbed and sexually assaulted in Co Kerry earlier today.
Emergency services were called a residential property on Maine Street in Tralee at around 9.30am.
It is understood that the woman may have been stabbed a number of times.
She was taken to University Hospital Kerry for treatment, where her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The man, who is in his 30s, was arrested in a housing estate on the northern outskirts of the town at lunchtime.
He is being held at a garda station in Kerry.
The scene at Maine Street has been sealed off and a technical examination is under way.
