Social Democrats Leader Holly Cairns has pledged to deliver 50,000 homes per year if her party gets into power.
During her leaders speech at her party conference this evening, Ms Cairns said that the "wrong political decisions" had led to the housing crisis.
She told delegates that there must be a focus on affordability, adding that her party would deliver 10,000 affordable homes and 12,000 social homes per year.
The TD for Cork South-West reiterated her party's policy of implementing a three-year rent freeze, a ban on no-fault evictions, a tax on vacant homes and an end to the bulk buying of houses by investment funds.
On the crisis in Gaza, Ms Cairns accused the Government of not matching strong words with action.
She called on the Government to implement the Occupied Territories Bill and officially recognise the state of Palestine.
Earlier Ms Cairns identified the implementation of Sláintecare as a "red-line" in Government formation talks, as well as a ban on no-fault evictions.
She told delegates that for the first time it was not a given that the next government will be led by Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael.
She pledged to fully ratify the Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities.
On climate, she pledged to use the exchequer budget surplus to create a €6 billion climate transformation fund.
This was Ms Cairns first conference as leader of the party.
She told delegates that she believed many people in Ireland were disillusioned with politics, adding that in around 600,000 people lived in poverty, despite an exchequer surplus of €8 billion.
Last night, the conference heard from Palestinian Ambassador to Ireland Dr Jilan Wahba Abdalmajid.
Dr Abdalmajid thanked the Government for its decision to increase funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency to €20 million this year.
At the start of proceedings yesterday, party leader Ms Cairns said she is focused in this year of elections on her party gaining as many seats as possible.
The Social Democrats currently has six TDs after doubling its cohort in the last general election, while it has 22 sitting county councillors.
