A man who was wrongly referred to as a suspect in the Parnell Square stabbings last year has launched High Court proceedings against Gript Media.
An article was published on Gript.ie last November but was later removed after gardaí described it as "highly inaccurate" and said the person referenced in the article was not a person of interest in the investigation.
Gardaí said the man had been named on social media after the publication of the article.
Solicitors acting for the man have now lodged High Court proceedings against Gript Media.
The article followed an incident on 23 November, 2023 in which young children and an adult were stabbed outside Coláiste Mhuire on Dublin's Parnell Square.
The Gript.ie article made references to a suspect in the case but it was later removed after the site was contacted by gardaí.
At the time, gardaí issued a statement saying measures had been put in place to ensure the safety of the man who was wrongly named on social media.
Gript Media said at the time it was investigating "the circumstances of the error".
Another man was subsequently charged with eight offences, including three counts of attempted murder.
The editor of Gript Media, John McGuirk, has declined to comment on the matter.
