A man has been arrested after the discovery of a body at a rural house in Co Tipperary early yesterday.
The arrest follows the conclusion of a post-mortem examination on the body of a Polish man in his 30s who was found dead at a house near the small village of Kilross at 4am on 27 December.
While gardaí confirmed tonight that the post-mortem examination had been completed at University Hospital Waterford, they did not release any details about what it revealed.
It also follows a forensic examination of the house over the past two days.
In a statement tonight, gardaí said a man aged in his 20s has now been arrested as part of their inquiries into the death.
He is being detailed for questioning at a garda station in the Munster region and is being held under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act.
This allows gardaí to detain and question him for an initial period of six hours, extended for a further six hours if the investigation warrants it.
Meanwhile, the investigation into all the circumstances of the man’s death is continuing.

It is understood the detached two-storey house, near the Tipperary and Limerick border, was rented by the deceased and a number of others.
Councillor Declan Burgess, who is Cathaoirleach of Tipperary, Cahir and Cashel Municipal District where Kilross is located, said there was a deep sense of shock in the locality following the death.
He said Kilross was a beautiful community in west Tipperary and to be struck by such sad news was very concerning.

A number of people had reportedly gathered at the house on St Stephen's night for a birthday celebration and gardaí are anxious to speak to those who attended.
Gardaí have appealed to anyone with information to contact Tipperary town garda station on 062 80670, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
