A 23-year-old man has appeared in court charged in connection with a fatal hit and run in Dublin last month.
Michael McGuirk, with an address on Cashel Avenue in Crumlin, was arrested yesterday morning as part of the investigation and taken to Mountjoy Garda Station.
He was brought before Dublin District Court this afternoon charged with dangerous driving causing death.
He is also charged with reckless endangerment, for allegedly driving a car at speed and mounting a footpath.
Carol Seery from Finglas died after she was struck by a car as she crossed Phibsborough Road near Cross Guns Bridge in Phibsborough, just after 9pm on 4 October.
The 67-year-old had been out on the night socialising with her husband at a family meal.
In court this afternoon Detective Garda Kevin Bambrick gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution.
He said the accused made no reply to the two charges.
Det Garda Bambrick told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions has given verbal directions for trial on indictment.
Defence solicitor Brian Keenan said no application for bail was being made at this time.
He said the prosecution will be notified if a bail application is to be made in due course.
Mr McGuirk made no comment during the brief appearance.
Judge Treasa Kelly remanded the accused in custody to Cloverhill Prison to appear before the court again next Friday, 10 November, via video link "for service of the book of evidence and possible application for bail" on that day.
Judge Kelly granted an application for free legal aid after the court was told Michael McGuirk is "not working" and "not in receipt of any income".
