Sinn Féin extend lead to remain most popular party, poll suggests

Sinn Féin remains the most popular political party and has extended its lead, a new opinion poll suggests.

According to the latest Sunday Independent/Ireland Thinks poll, the party is at 35%, an increase of two points.

Fine Gael is the second most popular party but has seen a two point drop in support, falling to 19%.

Fianna Fáil is on 17%, a drop of one point.

According to the poll, the Social Democrats party has also seen a drop in support of one point, with the party now on 5%.

Support for the Green Party has increased by two points to 4%, the poll suggests.

The Labour Party has seen no change and remains at 3%.

Aontú is also on 3%, an increase of one point.

Solidarity-PBP is down one point to 2% while independents and others are up to 12%, an increase of two points.

The poll was taken on 28 and 29 September, with a sample size of 1,196 people and a margin of error of 2.9%.
