A woman in her 80s has died following a hit-and-run incident in Dublin.
She was walking at the junction of Fortunestown Way and Cheeverstown Road in Tallaght shortly before 11am when she was struck by a car.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was removed to the City Morgue at Whitehall for a post mortem.
Gardaí say the car, which initially failed to remain at the scene, was later recovered and will be technically examined.
The road remains closed this evening.

Anyone with camera footage from the area at the time of the incident is also asked to make it available to gardaí.
