Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has suggested conditions may exist to any potential bailout or emergency funding for RTÉ.
Speaking at a "Housing for All" launch at Government Buildings this lunchtime, Mr Varadkar was asked about a potential bailout for the national broadcaster.
"We all know RTÉ is in trouble at the moment, not just financially but reputationally", the Fine Gael leader said.
He confirmed there is a "longstanding request from RTÉ" for potential additional support.
However, when asked about the separate issue of a potential "bailout" for RTÉ, Mr Varadkar said "if that arises we'll have to deal with it then".
He added that "any time" the State has bailed out an institution "it never comes without conditionality".
Mr Varadkar also said he continues to believe former RTÉ director general Dee Forbes should attend an Oireachtas committee to explain her role in the controversy.
He said he does not want to see an ongoing "drip drip" of information on the saga.
Asked twice if he believes that Ms Forbes should still attend an Oireachtas committee, when she is well enough to do so, Mr Varadkar said: "I believe the former director general should attend, hopefully when she makes a recovery."
