RTÉ News understands that Patrick Kielty has expressed his wishes to make his fee for presenting The Late Late Show public once it goes through the appropriate processes, including the remuneration committee of the broadcaster.
RTÉ and Mr Kielty are understood to be revisiting the issues of making it public.
It follows calls from a number of politicians to make the remuneration package public, following the controversy surrounding payments made to his predecessor Ryan Tubridy.
The Oireachtas Committee on Media heard yesterday that Mr Kielty’s pay deal could be made public by Friday, pending agreement from him and the RTÉ Board's Remuneration Committee.
Committee Chair Niamh Smyth expressed hope that this would happen.
The committee also heard that RTÉ’s Director of Content, Chief Financial Officer and legal department took part in negotiations with Mr Kielty around his remuneration.
Chief Financial Officer Richard Collins said that he had made RTÉ Board Chair Siún Ní Raghallaigh aware of the details, adding that the contract with Mr Kielty has been signed by both sides.
Sinn Féin TD for Donegal Pádraig Mac Lochlainn had said it would be "absolutely untenable" to not bring details of the contract "into the public domain".
"I think there is a culture in the higher echelons of many organisations, but whatever about the private sector, it's unacceptable in the public sector, to have this type of approach, this sense of entitlement where you can obscure arrangements around payments, and I think people are outraged about that," he said.
Fine Gael TD and Public Accounts Committee member Colm Burke had said that RTÉ "must outline how much it is paying Patrick Kielty to present The Late Late Show".
"Everything is on the table this week [at a PAC meeting] and that includes the pay deal struck this year with Mr Kielty," he said.
Labour Senator Marie Sherlock said that it was "vital" for confidence in the broadcaster that "all the parts of that package are made public".
Fianna Fáil Senator Timmy Dooley said that RTÉ has "no choice" but to make the details of the agreement known.
