A teenage girl and a pedestrian in his 80s have died after separate road crashes in the northeast of the country.
The 17-year-old girl died after the tractor she was travelling in hit a ditch in Co Cavan late last night.
It happened on the L2514 at Loughduff, close to the Cavan-Longford border, at around 11pm.
A teenage boy, who had been driving the tractor, was not injured.
The girl's body was taken to Cavan General Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place.
Gardaí said the road was closed pending a forensic examination.
They appealed to witnesses or those who may have dashcam footage to contact Cavan Garda Station on 049 4368800, or any garda station.
Separately, a man in his 80s died after he was hit by a car in Co Louth.
It happened on the R166 Castlebellingham to Annagassan Road shortly before 8pm last night.
The man's body was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where a post-mortem will be carried out.
Gardaí said the driver of the car was not injured.
The scene was sealed off for a forensic examination.
