Authorities at a school in the Peruvian city of Huancayo were horrified yesterday to find a man in his 40s dressed as a schoolgirl hiding in a bathroom, who was subsequently arrested.
It was unclear how the man entered the premises of the educational institution or what he was doing in one of the bathroom stalls of Rosa De America School.
"This man stayed in the bathrooms for several minutes. This puts our student's physical and moral integrity at risk," said school director Ronald Vilchez.
When detained by the police, the 42-year-old man was still wearing the school uniform, a pink cardigan, a mask, a backpack, a bucket hat and two long fake braids.
As he was being escorted out, irate parents tried to push and attack the man.
"I don't know what happened inside. We don't know where this man came from," one mother said.
"My daughter studies here. It’s worrying that this has happened. We don’t want him to be set free."
Local media reported that school authorities found photographs of the accused wearing uniforms from other schools in his phone.
When asked by a reporter if he regretted what he had done, the man answered: "Why would I regret it, if I did nothing?"
The man was later handed over to the prosecutor's office.
