Man, 37, stabbed to death at house in Kilkenny city

A 37-year-old man has died after he was stabbed in a residential area of Kilkenny city.

The man sustained the wound during an incident at a house in Meadow Way, Castlecomer Road, at about 5.40pm.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The State Pathologist and Coroner's Office have been notified.

The scene is preserved for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.

A 69-year-old man has been arrested and is being held for questioning at Kilkenny Garda Station.

He can be held for up to 24 hours under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Gardaí have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area.
