A recall notice has been issued by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland for a batch of frozen chicken.

The product, Iceland Creamy Garlic Chicken Breasts in Blankets, is being recalled because of the presence of salmonella bacteria.

The affected batch has a best before date of 15 August this year and originates in Poland.

Consumers who bought the product are advised not to eat it.

It is being withdrawn from sale in shops and recall notices are being posted at points-of-sale.

The supermarket chain has 27 stores around Ireland.

Earlier this month, the owner of the stores said it had sold its entire shareholding in the Irish operation to The Project Point Technologies, which it said intends to continue operating the stores under the Iceland brand as part of a franchise agreement.
