A 19-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital following a serious assault in Swords, Co Dublin.
The attack happened on Brookdale Avenue at around 7pm last night.
The man was in a car and had met another man who appears to have attacked him.
He drove off but stopped a short distance away, got out of the car and collapsed.
He suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Beaumont Hospital, where his condition is described as critical.
A man in his early 20s has been arrested for an offence contrary to the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997 and is detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Swords Garda Station.
The scene has been preserved for a technical examination.
Gardaí in Swords are trying to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack.
