A commemoration ceremony is taking place to mark the 100th anniversary of the ambush and shooting dead of Michael Collins at Béal na Bláth in Co Cork.

Thousands are attending this afternoon's ceremony and a traffic management system and crowd control system is in place.

The leaders of the two largest parties in the State, Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael - the parties that were formed by the opposing sides in the Civil War - will address the gathering.
