The Department of Housing has confirmed that the deputy chair of An Bord Pleanála, Paul Hyde, has resigned.
He tendered his resignation to Minister for Housing Darragh O'Brien yesterday.
Mr Hyde had already temporarily stepped aside from his duties over allegations that he may have had a conflict of interest.
Minister O'Brien had subsequently appointed senior counsel Remy Farrell to investigate. A report is still pending.
Separately, An Bord Pleanála was also conducting an internal review of cases Mr Hyde was involved in.
Sinn Féin's housing spokesperson Eoin Ó Broin has said Minister O'Brien must publish the report on the matter "immediately".
He also said that Minister O'Brien must set out what actions he intends to take to address what Mr Ó Broin called the "systemic problems at An Board Pleanála".
Mr Ó Broin added that he will be writing to the minister seeking assurances that the report will be shared with members of the Oireachtas Committee on Housing as soon as he received it, in order for them to "consider the matter" over the Dáil's summer recess.
