A man who was shot in the head on farmland in south Co Dublin earlier this week has died in hospital.
Keith Conlon, 36, from Kiltalown Park was shot following a confrontation on land at Hazel Grove last Tuesday afternoon.
The scene of the fatal shooting, a rural area at the foot of the Dublin mountains outside Tallaght, remained sealed off for a third day today as a forensic examination and garda searches continued.
A group of local men were out there on Tuesday afternoon with a dog when a man came upon them and shot the dog.
A confrontation ensued and Mr Conlon was shot in the head.
The father of a newborn baby was taken to Tallaght University Hospital in a critical condition but died there this afternoon.

A 53-year-old man who was arrested at the scene on Tuesday afternoon is still being questioned in Tallaght Garda Station.
He is being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and has been questioned for the past two days.
His period of detention was extended for a final 24 hours by a District Court judge this afternoon. He must be charged or released by around lunchtime tomorrow.
The garda investigation has now been upgraded to that of a fatal shooting. It has all the resources and access to specialist units necessary for a murder inquiry.
Gardaí have also seized a licenced handgun, which they believe was used in the shooting.
Detectives said they are following a definite line of inquiry and are not looking for anyone else.
