A woman in her 30s and a 19-year-old man have died in separate road crashes.
The young man died in a single-vehicle crash on a local road at Knockleigh, Belgooly, Co Cork, shortly after midnight.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and it is understood he was travelling alone.
His body was removed to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.
Separately, a woman died in a single-vehicle collision in Lahinch, Co Clare, at around 6.40pm yesterday.
The woman, who was a passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and taken to Ennis Garda Station.
Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses, and for road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, who were travelling in the area at the time to make this footage available to them.
