Two arrested over fatal stabbing in Wicklow

Two people have been arrested after a man in his 30s was fatally stabbed in Co Wicklow.

Emergency services were called to a house in Ballyconnell, outside Shillelagh, at around 8.15pm last night.

A 36-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim's body has been removed from the scene and has been brought to Naas General Hospital for a post-mortem examination, which is expected to be carried out by the Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster.

A forensic examination will also be carried out by members of the Garda Technical Bureau.

A man, aged in his 30s, and a woman in her 20s have been arrested and are being held at garda stations in Bray and Baltinglass.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in Ballyconnell yesterday or anyone who noticed any unusual activity in Ballyconnell between 7pm and 8.15pm and who may have camera footage (including dash cam) to contact Baltinglass Garda Station on 059 648 2610, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.

Members of the Garda Technical Bureau are expected to remain at the scene until at least tomorrow before finalising that aspect of the investigation.
