Man to appear in court after Dundalk dangerous driving incident

A man in his 20s in due in court tomorrow charged in connection with a dangerous driving incident in Dundalk.

He was arrested after a garda car was hit by another car in the early hours of this morning.

Two garda members sustained minor injuries were brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

Shortly after 4am, gardaí noticed a car "travelling erratically" on Park Street in the town.

After they requested the vehicle to stop, it failed to do so, and a containment operation began.

This came to an end at the Redcow roundabout in the town, when the vehicle collided with a garda car.

Three passengers in the vehicle which struck the garda car - a man and two women all aged in their 20s - were also brought to hospital as a precaution.

The arrested man was charged in relation to the incident tonight and is due to appear before Dundalk District Court tomorrow.
