Investigation after human remains found on Dublin island

A garda investigation is under way after the discovery of human remains on Lambay Island, Co Dublin.

The remains were found on Thursday evening by people working on the island.

The remains were brought to the Dublin City Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination was conducted by the State Pathologist.

The results of the post mortem and DNA analysis by Forensic Science Ireland, are expected to assist gardaí in confirming the identity of the remains, and with the course of their investigations.
