A Status Yellow rain warning has been issued for tomorrow for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow and Waterford.

According to Met Éireann, persistent rain on Christmas Day will give a total of 30-50mm of rain.

This may lead to localised flooding.

The warning, issued earlier this morning, comes into effect at midnight tonight and will run until 11pm.

The forecaster said that tomorrow will be a wet, cloudy and breezy day, with widespread rain and a risk of spot flooding.

Brighter conditions with scattered showers will develop in the southwest and west early in the afternoon.

But it will stay wet for much of the day across Leinster and Ulster.
