A Status Yellow fog warning was in place for all counties this morning, as dense patches led to reduced visibility and poor driving conditions.

The warning was active from 3.05am and ended at 11am.

During fog warnings, the Road Safety Authority advises drivers to reduce speed and allow extra time getting to their destination.

"Road users should listen to weather forecasts and general advice about driving conditions and if you must drive in fog, allow plenty of extra time for your journey. Before setting out, check that your car is in good working order, particularly that all the lights, including fog lights, work properly and are clean," according to advice on the RSA website.

"The RSA is also advising vulnerable road-users such as pedestrians, motorcyclists and cyclists to ensure they are clearly visible to other road-users by wearing high visibility clothing and using lights."

The rest of the day will be dull, with few bright spells in places, according to the forecaster.

While most areas will remain dry, a little patchy drizzle is expected.

Fog warnings had already been in place during the weekend.
