A man who was found seriously injured in Dublin with a gunshot wound to the head last week has died from his injuries.
The 26-year-old man was found on Mellowes Avenue in Finglas at around 8pm on Thursday 11 November.
He was taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown, where he had been in a critical condition.
The firearm used in the shooting has not been recovered.
His injuries are "unexplained", gardaí have said, and Chief State Pathologist Dr Linda Mulligan is due to carry out a post-mortem examination tomorrow.
Gardaí have said the results of the post-mortem will determine the course of their investigation.
They are investigating if his death was accidental or if he was targeted as part of a gangland attack.
The man was known to gardaí and previously connected to a criminal gang in Finglas involved in an ongoing feud with a gang in west Dublin.
He was also connected to a drug dealing gang in Cabra in Dublin.
The man was aware he was under threat and had been previously warned by gardaí that his life was in danger.
He has also been linked to a number of Kinahan organised crime group gunmen who are currently serving sentences for their roles in trying to kill members of the rival Hutch organised crime group.
