The jury in the trial of a 34-year-old man accused of the murder of his former partner in Co Wicklow in 2019 has been sent home for the night.

Daniel Murtagh, of Melrose Grove, Bawnogue, Clondalkin in Dublin, has pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to the manslaughter of 30-year-old Nadine Lott at her home in St Mary's Court, Arklow in December 2019.

The seven men and five women said they had not yet reached a verdict after almost four and a half hours of deliberations

At 4pm today the registrar at the Central Criminal Court asked the foreman if they had reached a verdict on which they all agreed. He replied: "No".

Mr Justice Michael MacGrath said he would adjourn proceedings until tomorrow morning as the jury had spent in excess of four hours deliberating today. He added: "Leave anything from the case in the jury room, don't speak to anyone about the case and keep as far away as possible from media coverage of the case."
