A cyclist in his forties has died in a road incident in County Cork.

It happened near Kildorrery, 12km west of Mitchelstown, shortly before 6.30pm yesterday.

Gardaí are describing it as a single vehicle crash.

The cyclist, who has been named as Michael Burke of Shanballymore, Co Cork, was due to celebrate his 47th birthday next Saturday.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information or anyone who may have video, including dash cam images, to make contact with them.
