A garda is being treated in hospital in Cork after she was dragged by a car during a drugs search in Baltimore in the west of the county last night.
The garda was attempting to speak to the driver of the car when she was dragged along the road for around 30 metres.
She suffered leg injuries and was taken by ambulance to Bantry General Hospital, before being transferred to Cork University Hospital late last night.
The driver of the car was later arrested.
The incident happened at around 8pm during a planned drugs search in Baltimore.
Gardaí recovered more than €5,000 worth of cannabis and over €3,000 in cash during a search of an apartment there.
A man in his 20s was arrested in relation to the find and is being questioned at Bandon Garda Station under drugs trafficking legislation.
As part of the same operation, the garda was attempting to speak to the driver of a car when he drove off, dragging her along the road.
In a follow-up search a man in his 30s was arrested in Skibbereen and a car was seized just after midnight. A small quantity of cannabis was also seized.
The man is also being questioned at Bandon Garda Station.
