Motorists in Co Mayo are being urged to drive with care as snow remains in places on many routes.
A band of snow moved over the western side of the county yesterday, leading to heavy falls in Westport and roads around the town are said to be in a treacherous condition.
The situation has improved somewhat around Castlebar and Ballina, but care is needed on secondary routes that were not gritted overnight.
Roads around Crossmolina are also problematic and drivers should also exercise caution in the south of the county, around Claremorris.
The N59 from Galway to Clifden is passable, but gardaí there say that minor roads are icy in many places.
In Co Galway, a slight rise in temperatures overnight has thawed much of the snow that fell over the course of yesterday afternoon.
More than 1,300 homes are without power this morning in counties Mayo and Galway.
ESB Networks said teams are working to repair the faults and most homes should have power restored by midday.
Meanwhile, two Status Yellow warnings have been issued by Met Éireann.
A rainfall warning for Cork, Kerry and Waterford will come into effect from just after midnight until 12pm tomorrow with up to 40mm of rain along with strong to gale force onshore southeast winds forecast and a risk of river and coastal flooding.
A separate warning for snow and ice will be in effect from 2am today until 12pm tomorrow for Connacht, Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal with up to 5cm of snow possible - more on higher ground - along with fresh to strong southeast winds.
Snow has been reported this morning (12th) around Westport in Mayo and Clifden in Galway, with some frost in Monaghan Town and Longford Town.
