Gardaí have seized an estimated €1m worth of drugs and imitation firearms during a search in southwest Dublin.

Cocaine, cannabis and crack cocaine were found hidden in shipping containers at a storage depot in Citywest.

It is the second such seizure in the area in the past three months following the discovery of €5m worth of ecstasy and MDMA at the same facility last November.

Officers from the drugs and detective units in Tallaght, backed up by sniffer dogs and the armed emergency response, unit raided a storage facility in Citywest this morning.

Twenty seven storage containers were searched during the operation.

The seizure includes over €452,100 of cannabis herb, €542,500 of crack cocaine and €70,000 worth of cocaine.

The drugs were wrapped, vacuum-packed and stored in bags and hidden in shipping containers. It is not clear when they were imported.

No arrests have been made and gardaí in Tallaght are trying to establish if the drugs belong to one or a number of criminal gangs.

Four imitation firearms were also seized.
