Dublin city councillors have agreed to sell off two land parcels in St Teresa's Gardens to fund local sport facilities.
A full size playing pitch and a new facility for the local boxing club will be built by the developer Hines in exchange for 0.13 hectares of land worth €9m.
Hines will also be paying with a mixture of cash and other infrastructural projects.
The City Council plans to build 850 homes with 70% cost rental and 30% social on the St Teresa's site.
Hines has purchased the adjacent Player Mills and Bailey Gibson sites and has applied to An Bord Pleanála to build 1,400 build-to-rent homes with 136 going to the City Council under the Part V requirement.
