The Food Safety Authority has recalled two of Dunnes Stores own brands of cooked chicken and two chicken products sold at Lidl over a possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

Customers are advised not to eat any of the 240g packets of Dunnes Stores My Family Favourites Cooked Chicken Pieces and Dunnes Stores My Family Favourites Cooked Chicken Tikka Pieces.

The recalls apply to all batch numbers and all sell-by dates.

The FSAI has also recalled Glensallagh Family Pack Roast Chicken Breast Pieces and Glensallagh Family Pack Tikka Style Chicken Pieces which are sold in Lidl stores.

All 240g size packs are the subject of the recall.

The Authority says that the recall follows a similar notice issued by Food Processor Faughan Foods earlier this month.

Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed at all Dunnes Stores premises and Lidl stores supplied with the implicated batches.

Listeria monocytogenes infection can result in vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness, the Authority has warned, adding that in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications.

Some people are more vulnerable to Listeria monocytogenes infections, including pregnant women, babies, and people with weakened immune systems, including the elderly.
